I keep a trickle charger connected to the battery whenever I'm not using the car if I didn't the battery would die. A couple of weeks ago I went for a ride stopped at a nephew's house, 1/2 hr later when I got ready to leave the car would not start, the gauges would turn on but the starter would not do anything, gave it a jump and it quickly started, I figured the battery had run it's course. I purchased a new Optima, when I took the car to the upholsterer it sat for 4 days without starting when I went to pick it up it did not start, I thought my wiring had a short, jumped it and took the car home. Yesterday I was working on the car and when I went to start it the same thing happened so I figured it was the time to find what was going on with the wiring because I knew the battery was fully charged.
To make a short story long, first trouble shooting I did was to try and move the negative cable, made it a little tighter tried to start again and it cranked up, guess you know by now that the problem was the cable, it was the type that's connected in two pieces one permanent on the terminal and the cables connected to that with a wing nut. I installed a cable that's permanently connected at both ends and hopefully that will be the end of that.
Definetely that's not a one word post.
